I'm a web developer. With my work, I'd like to contribute to social change. I think that online platforms can help us think better collectively, empowering us to solve the challenges humanity is facing.

Things I want to learn

I'm interested in complex systems, emergent behavior and system dynamics.

I'd like to learn more about intellectual property rights, copyright law, and specially about the alternatives to this models, like P2P, Open Source and Free Software, and how to apply those models to other areas of knowledge creation and sharing.

I definitely want and need to learn more history and philosophy, and would like to learn more about economy, from various standpoints.

On the technological side, I need to learn to use version control systems —actually, I already started with Git. After two years of intense use, I keep discovering Drupal. I'm always open to learn new things when the projects I'm working on require them.

Chosen is a library for making long, unwieldy select boxes more friendly.

I was told of a library to convert HTML to PDF using Webkit today: wkhtmltopdf. A few weeks ago, I had to write some clumsy AppleScript to convince Safari to print about a thousand pages to PDF. It wasn't pretty. Now it'll be easier! :)

As the size of a CSS file increases, finding rules gets more inconvenient. Not having a mess helps a lot, of course, but this neat trick from CSS tricks, combined with the code folding shortcuts in TextMate, makes everything even better.
